POR-15 anti-rust paint is a high performance coating designed to paint directly on prepped rusted or seasoned metal surfaces to stop rust permanently.
POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint is non-porous and seals and protects many surfaces from water, chemicals, fertilizer, salt, and other corrosive contaminants. Also, this POR-15® rust inhibitor and encapsulator is able to be painted over surface rust. This anti-rust paint is an effective anti-corrosive and rust preventive coating that offers superior chemical resistance due to its dense, cross-linked molecular composition and non-porous attributes.

Apply to a clean, completely dry prepared surface in thin coats, with relative humidity no higher than 75%. Recoat when dry with a slight tack; the product sheet gives a typical 2–6 hours, varying with conditions. An opaque UV-safe topcoat is required for sunlight exposure. The current checked instructions do not state an unambiguous numeric air/surface application range or fixed rain-free period; confirm the can label for the exact coating.
Check the air, the actual surface, overnight conditions and the full drying or curing period. The current product label takes precedence.
Recommended uses
Stop Rust System
Automotive restoration- Coverage
Approximately 400 sq ft per gallon for one coat on non-porous metal; apply two coats in most applications. Coverage is approximately 20–25% lower on porous surfaces.
- Application method
Brush or spray; follow the manufacturer’s equipment, preparation and thinning instructions.
- Drying time
Usually 3–6 hours, depending on ambient humidity; higher humidity speeds drying.
- Recoat time
Recoat or topcoat when dry to the touch with slight finger drag, typically 2–6 hours. If fully cured, scuff with 320-grit sandpaper until dull before coating.
